"Potential"

pillow_sq.jpg

I see the muse /

speak from in-app pulpits /

Head mic and weblinks exhort me /

unleash my power /

maximise time /

But fuck that /

I want to waste it /

I will sleep through every alarm /

while meetings pause pregnant with my potential arrival /

give him five minutes; they say /

colleagues concerned for my welfare /

I dawdle the city /

plucking photos and conversations /

cataloguing moments of pause /

from suit slaves guilty /

at freedoms stolen /

We Should Get Back; they say /

But not I /

I’m the furniture in luxury foyers /

Every pretty girl my muse /

In the park, more bench than bum /

I’m ambient /

and the ambience /

No beginning no end /

I’m air and aether /

Suns rise and fall /

While my phone dies molten /

under the fusillade /

of a trillion missed calls
